Since February is the month of love and Plett has to be one of the most romantic towns in South Africa, we thought we would give you some tips and suggestions for some unique romantic things to do in Plettenberg Bay.
A Picnic on Robberg Peninsula
Robberg Peninsula is an iconic Plett attraction and the picnic area is totally jacked up for an afternoon picnic looking out over the ocean and dramatic coastline. If you are looking for something more secluded, take the walk to “The Island”. The reserve closes at sunset so plan to get there early to enjoy some time on Plett’s most beautiful landmark. For your picnic requirements, stop in at our sister store, the Skaf’tin for yummy chicken and salad or a pizza.
Bramon Wine Estate
Settle in for an afternoon of relaxation, good food & sublime wine amongst the vines at Bramon Wine Estate. Bramon is Plett’s oldest vineyard, producing award winning wines and serving up some delicious tapas meals. There are few things more romantic than sitting outdoors, surrounded by vines and sipping a locally produced wine.
Kloofing
For those with a more adventurous spirit, what could be more bonding than helping each other traverse a river gorge? Africanyon provides an exciting journey through the Crags: swimming, jumping, abseiling, hiking and more will create a memorable experience!
Sundowners
Plett lends itself beautifully to cocktail hour as the sun sets slowly behind the town, highlighting the beaches and ocean with hues of pink and orange. Some of the best places for cocktails in Plettenberg Bay are: the Sea Lounge at the Beacon Island – for unsurpassed views suspended over the rocks, Zanzibar Cocktail Bar & Lounge is a trendy spot with lovely views of the bay and ocean and a cool vibe and The Table Restaurant and Bar offers a continental flair with outdoor, street-side seating.
Birds of Eden
Birds of Eden is a revelation – the world’s largest free-flight aviary that you can meander through at your own pace, listening to the sounds of the birds and waterfall. The sanctuary has benches and walkways with different views of the aviary and the area is covered in lush natural flora. It’s quite easy to spend hours wandering this huge sanctuary – watch out for those friendly “love birds” :)
