One of the highlights of the winter months in Plett is the Wedge Classic Bodyboarding contest. Held every year in July, South Africa’s longest running bodyboarding contest is held at the popular Wedge Beach and draws crowds of holiday makers to compete and watch the action.
The Wedge Beach – as it’s name suggests – is one of South Africa’s favourite wedging breaks and ideal for the acrobatic manoeuvre that are popular with bodyboarders. The beach also offers various vantage points from which to watch the action.
Although July in Plett is essentially winter – the video below shows you the type of weather that is typical of a Plettenberg Bay winter’s day – sunny, calm and pleasant. We can really recommend a winter visit to Plett for the Wedge Classic and the Plett MAD Festival as two highlights on the Plett calendar.
