Shot-LeftSeptember is Tourism Month in South Africa and the focus this year is on encouraging South Africans to take mini-breaks and explore our awesome, wonderous country. The campaign is called, “Nothing’s more fun than a Sho’t Left” which originates from everyday South African “taxi lingo” with “Sho’t Left” meaning just around the corner, a short distance away. That is so perfectly South African! There is always something exciting to discover around the next corner!

This got us thinking about how staying at a backpackers like Amakaya Backpackers and traveling the “backpacker lifestyle” is a convenient and affordable way to live the “Sho’t Left” philosophy. Gone are the days when a backpackers was a huge dorm room full of beds and not much else, Amakaya and many other backpackers now offer a variety of room options to suit most travelers needs and budget. Our backpackers in Plettenberg Bay offers en-suite double rooms, twin rooms and smaller and larger dorm rooms.  With our bar area and deck, communal kitchen, fire pit and adventure centre, there is plenty of space for privacy and  gathering areas to meet up with fellow travelers – the best of both worlds. Check out our full accommodation options.
