Believe it or not, Valentine’s Day is just over two weeks away. It’s time for the shops to turn red with roses, chocolate hearts and stuffed toys. It’s a time for lovers to turn their romantic charms up and look out for a location that’s perfect for an endearing evening or a wonderful weekend. Plettenberg Bay isn’t short on romantic charms. As a popular wedding and honeymoon destination, there are many spots that are just perfect for celebrating that ‘loving feeling‘!

ROBBERG

There are few places in Plettenberg Bay more romantic and few views more beloved than that from the Robberg picnic area at sunset. We love to pack a picnic of cheeses and pates with a chilled bottle of Plett wine and spend a couple of hours enjoying the views and the sunset. It’s simply beautiful to watch the sun turn the ocean to peach and pink. The reserve is open from sunrise to sunset, so check times before you head out and try to get there early, as it’s a popular sunset spot. Find out more in our blog here

EMILY MOON

As far as sunsets go, the views from Emily’s Restaurant and Simon’s Bar as some of the loveliest. As the lodge faces west, you’ll get to enjoy the golden light over the Bitou River and Wetlands – simply stunning. Emily’s serves a deliciously varied menu of African-inspired dishes with lots of local ingredients, while Simon’s is more a more casual vibe specialising in gourmet pizza and cocktails.

NEWSTEAD LUND FAMILY VINEYARDS

We’re very fortunate that Plettenberg Bay is home to some truly marvelous vineyards, producing award-winning wines and bubblies. Because, really, doesn’t bubbly really spell ROMANCE? ;) Newstead is an elegant yet comfortable vineyard, along Redford Road in the Crags, serving up tasty tapas, inspired by the moment from locally sourced ingredients, while sipping and savouring their wine and bubbles. This is a special place and their bubbly is often pre-sold out! Find out more about the Plett Winelands.

PLETT GAME RESERVE

Adventurous couples will find Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve a real treat. It’s a Big Five reserve that’s a short drive from Plett, offering both 4×4 and horse safaris in the reserve. The reception area and restaurant are decorated in rustic, game-lodge chic and are worth the trip, even for a cup of coffee. Find out more in our blog here

ARCH ROCK

Arch Rock is another of Plett’s international Blue Flag beaches and is a lovely location for breakfast on the beach, a swim and a walk, watching the dolphins. If long strolls on the beach are you idea of romantic paradise, then you know exactly where to go. The sunsets aren’t bad either ;) Find out more about Plett’s Blue Flag beaches

THE WHALE TAIL

Easily accessible for romantics of all ages, the Whale Tail view spot is a gorgeous location to watch the sun rise and to spy dolphins and whales in the waves off Lookout Beach.
