One of the best things about summer holidays are the memories that you’ll take home with you, pictures, videos and actual in-your-brain memories – those will last a lifetime. Summer in Plettenberg Bay is a clutter of sun-bright, sunset-pink memories just waiting to be made and, while our high season may be winding down, there’s still plenty of ‘summer’ left in Plett! Below are some of our favourite memories from the 2019/2020 summer high season:
DAYS ON THE BEACHÂ

CATCH A WAVE
Enjoy watersports? Plett will delight you with offerings including surfing and surf lessons, stand-up paddling, snorkelling, scuba diving, jet ski-ing, swimming with seals and paddling. There’s always somewhere, and something, new to try.
MARINE LIFE
Take a marine safari, swim with seals or simply watch from the shore, our marine life will astound you. Our resident dolphin species are common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins and humpback dolphins.
ROBBERG NATURE RESERVE
No list of memories would be complete without a mention of our iconic peninsula, Robberg. Reaching out into the open ocean, Robberg offers three circular hikes, a lovely beach and island and an elevated view of both the sheltered bay and wilder open ocean.
SABRINA LOVE OCEAN CHALLENGE
For three days, entire areas of Central Beach or Kurland Estate are transformed into a bright, summery pink during the Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge which raises funds for the Sabrina Love Foundation, which cares for children with special needs. The challenge includes paddling, swimming, trail and road running, MTB and, of course, the ultimate ‘Kids of Steel’ challenge – there’s something for everyone!

GET LUCKY SUMMER
For most of December and a portion of January, Plettenberg Bay plays host to Get Lucky Summer, GoodLuck’s summer residency. Held each Sunday on the lawns of the Beacon Isle Hotel, this early evening concert hosts different guests each week and, this year, included Jeremy Loops, Matthew Mole and World of Bird – this has quickly become one of Plett’s favourite summer events.
ISLAND BEACH BAR
Lounge on a lilo, play a stint of volleyball or enjoy a cocktail on South Africa’s only private island at the seasonal Island Beach Bar on Stanley Island. Highlights include visiting DJs and an epic ‘Float Day’ which encourages professional chillers to lay back and enjoy!
POLO MATCH
Plett’s summer polo scene is another iconic summer memory-maker. The season begins with the Polo Pony Street Parade (the only one of its kind in South Africa) and ends with an international match at the elegant Kurland Estate.
SUMMER SLAM
If you’re more of a spectator, then the Kia Summer Slam Beach Tennis Tour is for you. Held on Central Beach, international beach tennis players go head-to-head for an enormous pot under our beautiful Plett skies. You can even try your hand at beach tennis!
