At Amakaya Backpackers, we are always pleased to welcome participants and supporters and this month Plett will play host to the Investec PE to Plett 4 Day Stage Mountain Bike Race, the Dr Evil Classic – a 3 Day Stage Mountain Bike Race and the legendary Otter Trail Run and Challenge.

1. PE to Plett 4 Day Stage Mountain Bike Race
This inaugural race has been solidly booked out for months and was a real treat to follow the riders from Port Elizabeth, through the Eastern Cape and Tsitsikamma into Plett. Next year’s race will be run in reverse: Plett to PE, so don’t miss out if you enjoy a challenge surrounded by some of the country’s most spectacular natural beauty. www.peplett.co.za
2. Dr Evil Classic 3 Day Stage Mountain Bike Race (19-21 Sept)
With a course designed by the legendary Dr Evil himself, the Dr Evil Classic is a 3 Day Multi-Stage race that suits a variety of fitness levels. Wittedrift, a small village just outside Plettenberg Bay, plays host to the event and is turned into a hive of fun activity for riders and spectators. 3. The Otter Trail Run (21-22 Sept) & The Otter Trail Challenge (23-24 Sept)
The Otter Trail is world famous as one of the most beautiful hikes in all the world. Trail runners congregate at Storm’s River Mouth annually to compete in a challenging, variable and striking trail along the coast from Storm’s River to Nature’s Valley. www.theotter.co.za
