Our wonderful local game reserve, Plett Game Reserve, who offers our very popular horseback riding game safaris has launched a new safari product for Plettenberg Bay – Canoe Safaris down the Keurbooms River.
At Amakaya Backpackers, we often encourage our visitors to experience the awesome horse riding safari as a way to encounter African wildlife in the most natural way possible. The wild animals allow the horses to get much closer, and move into more places, than a vehicle would be capable of. And although 4×4 safaris are available, most of our backpackers choose the horse riding option – for obvious reasons! Now, Plett Game Reserve is offering an even more immersive safari experience – Canoe Safari through the Game Reserve and down the Keurbooms River!
The guided trip is expected to take 4-5 hours and begins at the Plett Game Reserve. Life jackets and helmets are provided and snacks are served along the way. The Keurbooms River is a natural wonder with banks alive with greenery and birds and the gentle wide river providing a silent auditorium to enjoy nature. The canoe trip also offers some excitement with some mild rapids to negotiate! The trip ends at the Plett Angling Club and visitors are then bussed back to the Game Reserve. This is sure to be a popular new Plettenberg Bay adventure for locals and visitors alike!
