Our little town is popular for having all sorts of sea life. The Southern Right Whale can be seen from our famous Lookout Rocks, also known as Whale Tail Point. If you are more adventurous our staff can assist you by booking you on a marine trip that will bring you up close and personal. You will also be entertained by loads of dolphins playing around the boat. The Robberg Peninsula is a nature reserve and national monument that lies about 8 km south of Plettenberg Bay, a prestigious coastal resort on South Africa's famous Garden Route. The fynbos-covered peninsula of Robberg, jutting into the sea, is a Plettenberg Bay trademark.
Monkey Land is a very unique primate sanctuary. Most of the primates were captive bred across the world before handed over to the professional staff and caretakers. Birds of Eden has a unique two hectare dome (the World’s largest) that spans over a gorge of indigenous forest. The sanctuary has its own mysterious ruin, which incorporates a walk-behind waterfall. Another feature is its amphitheatre, which has the ability to seat over 200 visitors. The sanctuary’s dome incorporates the ability to synthesise thunder and create short spells of rain from an irrigation system in the dome structure. Roofed viewpoints within the gorge have been erected for use during these brief rain storms.
Elephant Sanctuary is around the corner from our primate friends. With the educated staff your guided tour will let you have fun by riding on our enormous friends or just hold their trunks taking them for a stroll.
Rhino Base Camp is an exclusive and luxurious game reserve consisting of 1300 ha of mesmerizing natural beauty, and expertly situated about 15 minutes from Plettenberg Bay.
Bloukrans is the World’s Highest Commercial Bungy Jump at a whooping 216 m high! A proud record for South Africa and particularly, Tsitsikamma, Plettenberg Bay, and the Garden Route. They also offer a Bridgewalking tour and a “200m Flying Fox” out onto the arch of Africa’s largest bridge.
